Security, please remove that gentleman over there. The Corrs at the Point, Dublin, 16th January 1999 Another great night. I'm still sort of in a haze because of it, or maybe it's just because it's rather late.. Anyway, on with the story. Today there was a group of people going that included Stephen Jacob, Alan (Stephen's brother), Deborah Kew and two friends of her whose names I've already forgotten (sorry if you're reading!), Kerena Fussel, Cormac Fox, Tom Cosgrave, John (a friend of Stephen's), Peter Shevlin and Karl Shone. Sorry if I forgot anyone. We met at the Chicago Pizza Pie Factory before the concert for a bite before heading to the concert venue... Surprisingly we were on time there just when the gates were opening, regardless of the slow service at the CPPF. Unfortunately our group didn't have tickets for seating close to each other, so we agreed to meet after the concert. Overall, today's concert went much like the one yesterday. The concert was broadcast on Ireland's radio 2FM, and this was also mentioned by Andrea after NGFM when addressing the crowd. The audience's reaction was much better than yesterday though, there were even people spontaneously getting up before the encores. :-) Of course, it was also during Haste to the Wedding when Jim said "everyone on your feet" and everyone did. :-) Anyway, the audience's responses also reflected on the band, so it was a much better experience... The set list 1. Not Around 2. No Good For Me 3. Right Time 4. Joy Of Life 5. Forgiven Not Forgotten 6. What Can I Do 7. Addicted 8. Jim's Surprise 9. No Frontiers 10. Runaway 11. Haste To The Wedding 12. Secret Life 13. Only When I Sleep 14. Queen Of Hollywood 15. Dreams 16. Anyway --- 17. So Young 18. Toss The Feathers The above is typed from Andrea's set list so it should be correct this time. :-) It's also likely what they played yesterday. This time I had my camera with me, so I will HOPEFULLY have some pictures from the concert... Depending on how those turn out. I know my hands were shaking during the concert due to clapping and waving so much, so that and the absence of flash might mean they don't turn out very well. We'll see. This actually brings us to the explanation of the subject line. When Jim was starting on his piano solo, I halfway stood up to take a picture of him.. Immediately after I had taken the pic Jim pointed towards me (or my direction at least) and said to the microphone, "Security, remove that gentleman over there" as a joke! Well, I certainly hope it was as a joke. :-) Actually, I later have learned that this comment was not made to me, rather that to someone who shouted to Jim "Get them off ya!". At the time of the concert, I did think it was made for me though! Someone asked about this "Jim's solo" -- it's a version of some Irish song (for which don't know the name, if it has one) which is played by Jim alone on the piano. During Runaway, there were surprisingly few lighters to be seen. Having gotten a Corrs lighter the previous night, I made good use of it during the song. :) Anyway, the audience certainly knew the words by heart. During the encores there were people getting on the aisles so I got up from my seat and dashed up to the front, it was of course the best part of the concert to be able to dance to So Young and Toss the Feathers and be able to view things from just maybe 10 meters away, much closer than where I was seated originally. :-) And oh, Caroline did two drum solos, first was during So Young... Jim shouted "everybody show your hands" and so clap we did! The second, and actually better one was during Toss the Feathers. After the concert our international fan group gathered together, in hopes of trying to meet the group... Suffice it to say that one and half hours in the cold turned out fruitless. I think Kerena is right, they should be in Australia at this time of the year, and do the Europe shows when it's summer here. :-) To summarize things, the Corrs indeed do put on a great show... But of course, we all knew that, didn't we? Mikko
